Boralus Baked Beans

So this is another cauldron recipe! Again, if you have an Instant-Cauldron, I’ll try and figure out the conversion for you!

Have you ever been to Kul Tiras? Weather-wise, it’s kind of like Stormwind on steroids. Stormwind is wet and cold from the bay and it’s that wet that gets into your skin. But in Boralus, it’s even more intense. It gets all the way into your bones! At least for me, it doesn’t seem to matter how much I bundle up, I’m always cold and damp. Good thing those Kul Tiran jackets are so stylish.

One thing that seems to warm our island neighbors is baked beans. Now this is kind of a mis…name… cuz they’re actually done in a cauldron, but man they are delicious. They’re easy to make on the sea with ingredients that are easy to preserve. And I’ve found that they actually can store for a few weeks in a cold-box, and even freeze pretty well.

Mystery Meatloaf and Mashed Rutabaga

Ya know, if you tell someone you don’t know where the meat came from, they won’t touch it with a ten foot lance. If you call it ‘Mystery Meat’, you can get some of the more adventurous ones to try it out.

But if you put it on a loaf…

…why exactly is it that people are so eager to eat things in a loaf? Someone smarter than me explain.

Meal of the Week: Baked Mook and Cheese

Oh man. Oh man oh man oh man. This stuff is insane. I’ve made it twice so far and not only is it delicious, but I can’t keep enough stocked at the Keg!

Let me back it up a bit. Remember a while back I talked about my favorite Goblin box food, Mook and Cheese? Well, I was feeling particularly hungry today and Denarys and I were sitting around waxing poetic about food the same way that devilish men wax about pretty ladies. I was telling him about the delicious, steamy, ooey goodness that is mook and cheese and suddenly he gives me this sidelong look and asks why the fel I get my mook from a box.

Confused, I asked him what he meant.

He tells me that his mother (or I guess more accurately, his mother’s paid servants) make it all from scratch. And it is the kind of thing that makes the Naaru sing. Well. At least it makes Pryn make some very happy sounds. So after a lot of rather unbecoming begging and a few days to wait on the couriers, I had my very own recipe of Baked Mook to try.

It is well worth the wait.

Hey guys! Seratoph here. If you don’t know me, I’m a Kaldorei druid that’s also been doing a bit of bartending at the Golden Keg for a little while now. My life’s been pretty crazy but it just might be stabilizing soon. Not sure. But for now, I’m living in the woods and letting everything play out. And so far, so mixed. Mostly good though!

I’m filling in for Jax today because he’s been really busy and he is finally getting the rest he deserves. I thought during that time, why not make a little something to add to the menu?

Meal of the Week: Love Sausage

Ah, love is in the air. Or at least that’s what I’ve been told. I’m not exactly an authority on romance lately. What with my girlfriend having more and more trouble staying grounded in reality, the confusion and selfishness of finding someone to fill the void and the realization that now I’m not being fair to two people instead of just one. Or with trying to understand what you’re supposed to do when everyone has an opinion that they insist is the Correct one, but everyone’s opinion is equally Correct and vastly different.

But Love is in the air, and it’s everywhere, from the pink and red heart-shaped pastries and cookies that the bakers lay out with the dawn, to the heart  decorations and pink candles that seem to be mandatory for every building to be dolled up  with, or the couples holding hands and sneaking kisses and the questions it raises and the prickling fear in your chest what if you’re doing it wrong what if everything is wrong and you’re hurting everyone and maybe you shouldn’t ever have come to Stormwind in the first place.

But we’re not going to think about that.

Tonight we’re going to think about Love!

Meal of the Week: Dalaran Rolls

I don’t have a lot of pleasant memories from growing up, but there’s one that always stands out to me. On occasion, when I was little, my father would take me with him to some of his treks into Dalaran. I remember the smell of old tomes, the crackle of arcane in the air, and how important everyone looked and felt. Acting as my father’s apprentice, I felt important too.

We would always lunch in the Purple Parlor, and while my father would always get something more exotic, like bovine steak or seared scallops with a nice wine of the appropriate color, I always wanted the same thing.

I always wanted Dalaran rolls.

Merry Winterveil!

Wow! So this year was my first Winterveil spent not on the streets and man — it was amazing!!

Lots of great food, SO many cookies, and I’ve been wearing this great headband with antlers all week. It has jingle bells on it. It’s very obnoxious. I love it.

With all the chaos in the Keg, on top of visiting my brother in Silvermoon, I am a little late with this week’s update. So to make up for it, I have a Winterveil present for you all! I am going to provide three new recipes over the next three days, as well as a bonus for a new series I’m considering.

With the new year coming in just a few days, Colin taught me some of his traditions from home. He used to be head chef in the Purple Parlor in Dalaran before… well, he didn’t really want to talk about what happened. But he was kind enough to show me his tricks that he learned from his time there and his New Years traditions, and I’m excited to get to share them with you.

Meal of the Week: Happy Troll

Winterveil is really ramping up, and I gotta say, I am enjoying it immensely. I’m going to be honest, this is my very first Winterveil and I was really nervous about it. I didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t know what was coming. Big dude in a red suit knows if you’ve been bad or good? He knows everything about you? He can see into your soul and judge your sins?!

Yeah. Kinda terrifying.

But I spent some time in Silvermoon this week with my brother Vyn and his fiance. I asked him if he wanted me to make a traditional Winterveil dinner for them but he said no.

He wanted Happy Troll.
