Ya know, if you tell someone you don’t know where the meat came from, they won’t touch it with a ten foot lance. If you call it ‘Mystery Meat’, you can get some of the more adventurous ones to try it out.
But if you put it on a loaf…
…why exactly is it that people are so eager to eat things in a loaf? Someone smarter than me explain.
Oh man. Oh man oh man oh man. This stuff is insane. I’ve made it twice so far and not only is it delicious, but I can’t keep enough stocked at the Keg!
Let me back it up a bit. Remember a while back I talked about my favorite Goblin box food, Mook and Cheese? Well, I was feeling particularly hungry today and Denarys and I were sitting around waxing poetic about food the same way that devilish men wax about pretty ladies. I was telling him about the delicious, steamy, ooey goodness that is mook and cheese and suddenly he gives me this sidelong look and asks why the fel I get my mook from a box.
Confused, I asked him what he meant.
He tells me that his mother (or I guess more accurately, his mother’s paid servants) make it all from scratch. And it is the kind of thing that makes the Naaru sing. Well. At least it makes Pryn make some very happy sounds. So after a lot of rather unbecoming begging and a few days to wait on the couriers, I had my very own recipe of Baked Mook to try.
It is well worth the wait.

In the past year, I’ve come a long way. I’ve gone from being a homeless nobody to basically running a tavern. I’ve become a Knight Adept with the Argent Crusade. I haven’t had to steal for food, and in fact, I’ve found myself in the situation more than once with too much food and no way to store it.
That’s why I love this week’s recipe. It combines two of my favorite things – not letting food go to waste, and feeding my fellow Knights. …And the secret third thing being that it’s also a play on words that I’m very proud of. One of my favorite things to do here in Stormwind is to
bring tastes of home to people who have never experienced it. Most of you know
I’m originally from Silvermoon, but I spent a lot of time in both Brill and
outside of Orgrimmar. And sometimes, man do orcs know how to eat.
On Durotar, one thing that there are plenty of is boar. So pork is a huge stable in Durotar orcish cuisine. When you head a bit south though, you come to Razor Hill, a perfect melting pot of Darkspear Trolls and Orcs. With it, comes a delicious mix of trollish spices and orcish meats that everyone needs to experience at least once.
Ah, love is in the air. Or at least that’s what I’ve been told. I’m not exactly an authority on romance lately. What with my girlfriend having more and more trouble staying grounded in reality, the confusion and selfishness of finding someone to fill the void and the realization that now I’m not being fair to two people instead of just one. Or with trying to understand what you’re supposed to do when everyone has an opinion that they insist is the Correct one, but everyone’s opinion is equally Correct and vastly different.
But Love is in the air, and it’s everywhere, from the pink and red heart-shaped pastries and cookies that the bakers lay out with the dawn, to the heart decorations and pink candles that seem to be mandatory for every building to be dolled up with, or the couples holding hands and sneaking kisses and the questions it raises and the prickling fear in your chest what if you’re doing it wrong what if everything is wrong and you’re hurting everyone and maybe you shouldn’t ever have come to Stormwind in the first place.
But we’re not going to think about that.
Tonight we’re going to think about Love!
For just one day
I don’t have a lot of pleasant memories from growing up, but there’s one that always stands out to me. On occasion, when I was little, my father would take me with him to some of his treks into Dalaran. I remember the smell of old tomes, the crackle of arcane in the air, and how important everyone looked and felt. Acting as my father’s apprentice, I felt important too.
We would always lunch in the Purple Parlor, and while my father would always get something more exotic, like bovine steak or seared scallops with a nice wine of the appropriate color, I always wanted the same thing.
I always wanted Dalaran rolls.
This week has been two things: Cold and hard. I swear there’s a Death Knight joke in there somewhere, but I’m not sure I have the energy to find it. Times like this when I can’t feel my fingers and just want something to warm the body and the soul.
That’s why I like this soup. It’s simple. It’s delicious. It’s warm. Aside from the chopping, it’s crazy easy.
It’s not a cure for depression, but it has alcohol in it so that’s pretty close, right?
No, that’s not how this works
So I dunno if you guys have noticed, but it’s getting cold. Winterveil was pretty cold. Like, bundle up and stay in side watching the snow with someone you love cold. Like snuggle up in a blanket with hot cocoa cold. But First-Month?
First month is ‘it’s too cold to get out of bed to pee’ cold. Like, seriously considering the repercussions of not getting out from under the warm blankets ever. How long can you live without eating?
A while, but it’ll be worth getting up when there’s a hot bowl of Gorgrond Clam Chowder waiting for you.

So two very important things: Don’t expect anything that comes with instructions from a Laughing Skull Orc to be easy. And don’t expect it to come out pretty. This week’s recipe was Ravager Dogs from a good friend of mine, Korgraath Crotchgore, and it comes all the way from Gorgrond. Don’t ask him the story behind that sirname. Just trust me.
These dogs were ugly as fel, but man did they taste good. Unfortunately Korgraath’s instructions left a lot to be desired, so hopefully I can help you learn from my mistakes for this delicious dog. Crunchy with just a little bit of spice and an interesting fresh flavor, these are definitely worth it. I hope to revisit it later with a better method once I’ve experimented a bit more.
